A Royal Canadian Air Force Chinook helicopter is set to make a special appearance at this year’s Deep River Summerfest.
A CH-147F Chinook from 1 Wing is scheduled to conduct a flypast over Mackenzie Campus Field at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, before landing for a public static display.
The helicopter will remain on display until 2 p.m., giving festival-goers an opportunity to get an up-close look at one of the Canadian Armed Forces’ heavy-lift aircraft.
The Royal Canadian Air Force says the aircraft will operate at altitudes of at least 500 feet above the highest obstacle along its route. Residents in the area may notice increased aircraft noise during the flypast.
The appearance is subject to weather and flying conditions, with military officials noting that all flight operations are carefully planned and monitored to ensure public safety.
The Royal Canadian Air Force says its participation in Deep River Summerfest is intended to highlight the professionalism and dedication of the aviators who support operations across Canada.
