It’s shaping up to be one of the wettest Julys on record.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement, warning of rainfall amounts that could approach 50-100 millimetres in some locales over the next two days.
For the Ottawa Valley, the forecast calls for 50-60 millimetres by Wednesday, with the Upper Valley to receive just slightly less than that.
The risk of rain continues through the day Wednesday before an expected drying-out on Thursday.
With rainfall amounts this large, localized flooding could occur.
Residents can take preventative measures to protect against flooding by ensuring their sump pumps are working and clearing catch basins.
