Sores and bumps on Northern Pike raise concerns in Golden Lake

Something concerning is happening in Golden Lake. The Natural Resources Department for the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan says there have been reports of Northern Pike with visible bumps and sores on them.

At this point, officials haven’t been able to identify a cause, but they are working closely with the Ontario MNR to investigate.

They’re asking anyone who catches one of the affected fish to take clear photos of it and the area it was caught.

Note the date and specific location on Golden Lake, and if possible, keep the fish on ice or frozen so that samples can be taken and tested.
