A wide variety of local figures and dignitaries flocked to the RiverWalk Amphitheatre last week to commemorate the official start of Pembroke’s 200th anniversary celebration.
The city officially launched its Pembroke 200 campaign on Wednesday, July 22nd, at an event attended by dozens of residents and featuring live music from local performers.
Mayor Ron Gervais, MPP Billy Denault, MP Cheryl Gallant and more attended the commemoration and spoke to attendees.
Gevais emphasized that the city’s committees, volunteers and staffers have been working hard to ensue the campaign is a success.
Denault, meanwhile, said the 200th anniversary milestone was remarkable, and embodied the spirit of the community.
Gallant thanked attendees for braving rainfall in the leadup to the event, saying the community has persevered through a lot over its many years.
All three thanked volunteers, business owners and community members for their efforts to help make Pembroke the city that it has become.
The 200th anniversary happens in 2028.
