Here’s a look at what’s going on in the town for the next 48 hours!
The weekend is arriving with a packed schedule across the Upper Ottawa Valley. From waterfront concerts and community markets to rodeo action and one of the region’s biggest country music festivals, there are plenty of ways to spend the next 48 hours.
Friday is filled with opportunities to get out and enjoy the summer. In Petawawa, Brain Fitness for Active Aging offers older adults a chance to stay mentally active through games, conversation and interactive activities, while the popular Friday Nights at the Container Market returns with local artisans, food vendors, handmade goods and a welcoming community atmosphere.
Pembroke gets into the festive spirit Friday evening with its Christmas in July Night Market, where downtown businesses and vendors celebrate the season a little early with shopping, food, artisan products and holiday-themed fun.
Music lovers have no shortage of options. The Palmer Rapids Twin Music Festival continues another full day of country and bluegrass performances, bringing together artists and fans from across the region for one of the Ottawa Valley’s signature summer festivals. In nearby Beachburg, the inaugural Whitewater KIOTI Round-Up gets underway with two days of professional rodeo competition, including bull riding, bronc riding, barrel racing and live entertainment.
Closer to home, the City of Pembroke’s free Waterfront LIVE! concert series continues Friday evening as Peter’s Piano performs a mix of classical, jazz and contemporary music at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy another relaxing evening overlooking the Ottawa River.
Saturday begins with one of Pembroke’s favourite weekly traditions, the Pembroke Farmers’ Market, where visitors can browse fresh local produce, baked goods, flowers, meats, preserves, handcrafted items and products from area vendors.
Over in Petawawa, the Container Market returns for another day of shopping, local vendors and food, while the Palmer Rapids Twin Music Festival continues with another full schedule of country and bluegrass performances. The Whitewater KIOTI Round-Up also returns to Beachburg for its second day of rodeo action, offering another chance to catch professional riders, family activities and live entertainment.
Saturday evening finishes on a relaxing note at the Pembroke waterfront as Pierre DesMarais takes the stage for another free Waterfront LIVE! concert. Performing a mix of folk and soft rock, he’ll provide the soundtrack for another summer evening beside the Ottawa River.
Whether you’re shopping local, cheering on rodeo competitors, enjoying live music, exploring one of the Valley’s biggest festivals or simply spending time outdoors with friends and family, there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of the weekend.
