A father and son from Pembroke are celebrating a $1-million lottery win after matching all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the May 9 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
Michael and Brian G. collected the prize at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s Prize Centre in Toronto after discovering they had won the top ENCORE prize.
The pair, who regularly play the lottery together, said they always add ENCORE to their tickets.
After validating the winning ticket, they shared the news with family by sending a photo of the validation slip to their group chat.
“Our family members sent us photos of themselves lying on the floor because they were totally floored by the news!” the pair said in a statement released by OLG.
Brian said he plans to use his share of the winnings to buy a house and build a garage, while Michael intends to put his portion toward dental work.
The winning ticket was purchased at Choices Plus on Pembroke Street East in Pembroke.
ENCORE is an add-on game available with most OLG lottery purchases for an additional $1 and offers multiple ways to win through twice-daily draws.
