The City of Pembroke is advising motorists of two road closures next week as water infrastructure replacement projects get underway.
Front Street between Trafalgar Road and Second Avenue will be closed from Tuesday, July 28, until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, to allow for water infrastructure replacement. Access through the area will be limited to emergency vehicles and local traffic during the closure.
A longer-term closure will begin Wednesday, July 29, when First Avenue between Mary Street and Front Street closes to traffic until 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17. Emergency vehicles and local traffic will continue to have access during the construction period.
The city says detours will be in place for both projects and is asking drivers to obey posted construction signage, expect delays and use alternate routes whenever possible.
Officials also noted that businesses located within the construction and detour areas will remain open throughout the work.
The projects are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to replace aging water infrastructure.
