A mobile CT scanner has arrived at the Pembroke Regional Hospital to ensure diagnostic imaging services continue during the replacement of its aging permanent scanner.
The Atlas Medical trailer will remain on-site for the next several months while the existing CT scanner, which has reached the end of its service life, is removed and a new unit is installed. Staff will spend the coming week preparing the mobile unit and completing training before CT services transition to the trailer.
Patients with CT appointments will continue to register inside the hospital before being escorted by staff to the mobile scanner. Hospital officials say the temporary unit is expected to maintain most CT services and help minimize wait times during the installation period.
