Three local agricultural societies are partnering this summer to raise money for events in Cobden, Renfrew and Arnprior.
All three communities’ agricultural societies are teaming up for the Renfrew Fair Jackpot 50/50, a fundraising raffle that began earlier this month.
Cobden Agricultural Society president Meredith Mulligan says the three events all line up within a few weeks of each other, starting in Arnprior this August.
Mulligan says the three events are all distinct, but similar, and have the same goal of bringing more attention to the region’s agricultural sector.
The joint 50/50 raffle will help the agricultural societies fund fair programming and grounds maintenance. Mulligan says tickets are on sale online right now, and will be available in person at all three events.
Tickets cost $5 each, $10 for a bundle of three, $20 for a pack of 10, and $50 for 50. The draw for the winner will happen a few days after the Renfrew Fair ends, on September 16th.
Mulligan says she hopes to raise at least $2,000 for each of the three fairs.
The raffle is also sponsored by M&R Feeds and Farm Supplies. Owner Liam Clifford says they believe in supporting the community that supports it while promoting excellence in agriculture in the Ottawa Valley.
“Our local ag societies, fair boards and their volunteers put a lot of work into the local fairs to make them a memorable and positive part of life in the Ottawa Valley that should be recognized,” Clifford says. “We are proud to sponsor this new initiative and excited for the value it will bring these organizations and our community as we continue to grow together.”
Raffle tickets can be bought online here.
