The 11th Annual Multicultural Festival wrapped up Sunday night, bringing to an end months of preparation by Pembroke Public Library CEO Karthi Rajamani and her staff.
A late Saturday afternoon downpour wasn’t even enough to stop the festivities as thousands descended on Waterfront Park Friday and Saturday for the sights and sounds of the world coming together in Pembroke.
Karthi was optimistic about the iffy weather right from the outset as she moved through the park, overseeing the setup of vendors and volunteers.
Brian Abdallah has been involved with the festival pretty much from the beginning, and he was on hand to manage the stage performances that gave the festival its colour and vibrancy, as they do every year.
Karthi estimated that nearly 3,000 people attended on Friday night alone, which could mean attendance records for this year’s festival may have been broken. More on that when the final tally is released.
