The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation has received a $500 donation from Meridian Credit Union to support its annual Heroes Run for Healthcare fundraiser and the hospital’s ongoing equipment campaign.
The donation was made through Meridian Credit Union’s Good Neighbour Day initiative and was presented by Pembroke branch manager Shawn Gillies and financial services associate Erin Rafuse.
The contribution will support the Foundation’s Together, We Care campaign, a community fundraising effort with a goal of raising $10 million for priority medical equipment at Pembroke Regional Hospital.
Money raised through this year’s Heroes Run for Healthcare is being directed toward the purchase of a new CT scanner, which is scheduled to be installed in September. The Foundation says the new equipment will help ensure patients in the Upper Ottawa Valley continue to have access to diagnostic imaging services close to home.
“We are thankful to Meridian Credit Union for investing in local healthcare through their Good Neighbour Day program,” Foundation executive director Roger Martin said in a statement.
“Every gift to the Heroes Run for Healthcare helps move the Together, We Care Campaign forward, bringing us closer to our goal and helping ensure our hospital has the equipment needed to provide outstanding care for our community.”
The Foundation said the donation is one of many community contributions supporting the campaign to upgrade equipment at the regional hospital.
