In an official statement from the team on Thursday, July 9th, Brian Johnstone owner of the local McDonalds franchise has become the new owner of The Pembroke Lumber Kings effective immediately.
The statement reads:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In conjunction with the Central Canadian Hockey League, The Pembroke Lumber Kings are
pleased to announce the membership of the hockey club has been purchased and will begin
immediate operation under the ownership of local businessman Brian Johnstone.
As a club, our main goal is to restore the integrity, accountability and transparency of our
organization within the local community as well as the hockey community.
We are committed to building a brighter future for the club and its fans, and we invite you all
to be part of this exciting new era.

In an interview following the announcement, Director of Operations Tanya Tompkins said she and the rest of the club look forward to starting its next chapter.
Tompkins also said that she had spoken with many of the clubs’ players, and they’re all looking forward to suiting up again and hitting the ice.
The season will also feature a number of surprises for fans, Tompkins added.
Tickets go on sale Friday, July 10th at the Pembroke Friday Night Market beginning at 5:00 p.m. More information is expected to come out regarding the team’s future in the coming days.
