Motorists travelling along Highway 148 and Greenwood Road should expect delays next week as construction crews begin around-the-clock work on a culvert replacement project.
Thomas Cavanagh Construction Ltd., working under contract for the Ministry of Transportation, will carry out continuous 24-hour operations for five days beginning Sunday, July 12, at 7 p.m. The work will take place at the intersection of Highway 148 and Greenwood Road as part of a broader highway rehabilitation project.
Traffic through the construction zone will be reduced to a single lane under continuous flagging while crews remove and replace a prefabricated box culvert.
The rehabilitation project also includes improvements to Highway 148 from about 300 metres west of Angus Campbell Drive to roughly 350 metres east of the Greenwood Road intersection, along with approximately 1.18 kilometres of Greenwood Road south of the highway.
Construction officials acknowledge the overnight work may cause noise and traffic disruptions for nearby residents, businesses and motorists, and are asking the public for patience while the infrastructure upgrades are completed.
