The Ottawa Valley will get the chance to connect with complimentary care as the summer rages on.
Free walk-in community clinics are being offered by the Renfrew County District Health Unit starting this week, giving residents access to a registered dental hygienist and a public health nurse without the need for an appointment.
The RCHDU says the clinics will offer dental services for all ages, including visual examinations of teeth and gums and optional fluoride treatments. Staff will also help eligible residents apply for publicly funded dental programs.
A kindergarten readiness program will also be available for children ages 18 months to 4 years, where families can speak with a nurse for guidance on early childhood growth and development, receive developmental milestone screenings, and catch up on routine infant vaccines. Families will also be connected to local programs and resources that may benefit their child.
Clinics have been scheduled for the following communities:
- Killaloe & District Public Library – July 7, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Bonnechere Union Public Library in Eganville – July 13, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Petawawa Public Library – July 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Arnprior Public Library – July 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Deep River Public Library – August 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Greater Madawaska Public Library in Calabogie – August 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Madawaska Public Library in Barry’s Bay – August 13, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Renfrew Public Library – August 17, 9:30 a.m. to noon.
- Pembroke Public Library – August 18, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Those curious about the clinics can contact the health unit at 613-735-8661 or by email.
While helpful, the RCDHU reminds residents that the clinics are not meant to replace care and advice offered by a primary care provider.
