Here is a look at what’s going on in the town for the next 48 hours!
Canada Day is just around the corner, and Pembroke and Petawawa are getting ready with plenty of fun for the whole family over the next couple of days.
The celebrations begin Tuesday evening in Pembroke with the Canada Day Kickoff at Riverside Park, starting at 5:30. Bring your appetite for a free hot dog barbecue, then stick around for tie-dye activities, inflatable bouncy houses, a live magic show and music from the Otis Strange Party Band. The evening wraps up with an outdoor screening of Zootopia 2 beginning at 9:30.
Also on Tuesday, Petawawa hosts a Walk and Ice Cream Social, giving residents a chance to get outside, enjoy a stroll and cool off with a sweet treat while connecting with friends and neighbours.
Then on Canada Day Wednesday, the celebrations kick into high gear. In Pembroke, festivities begin at noon at the Waterfront Park with opening ceremonies, free boat rides, craft and food vendors, the Generations Tent, a live magic show, freestyle soccer demonstrations, Little Ray’s Reptiles and live entertainment throughout the afternoon.
The celebration continues into the evening at Riverside Park, where food trucks open at 7 o’clock, live music from Stereo Typical gets the crowd going, and the day finishes with a spectacular fireworks display over the Ottawa River at 10 p.m.
Meanwhile in Petawawa, the Canada Day Party runs from noon until 4 at the Petawawa Civic Centre. Families can enjoy a free barbecue, bouncy castles, a giant Slip ‘n’ Slide and plenty of activities for all ages as the community comes together to celebrate Canada’s birthday.
Whether you’re spending the evening at Riverside Park, taking in the festivities on the waterfront or enjoying the celebrations in Petawawa, there are plenty of ways to mark Canada Day close to home.
That’s your community roundup — more local events coming up tomorrow!
