The City of Pembroke will officially kick off its Pembroke 200 campaign next month as planning ramps up for the community’s bicentennial celebrations in 2028.
A public launch ceremony is scheduled for July 22 at 7 p.m. at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre in Pembroke Waterfront Park. The event will feature remarks from municipal officials and project organizers, followed by a ceremonial performance by the 2CMBG Pipes and Drums. Historical displays highlighting past anniversary celebrations will also be on display, and cake will be served.
The launch marks the next stage of the initiative after the formation of an advisory committee, working groups and the development of the campaign’s branding and vision. City officials say efforts will now focus on recruiting volunteers, community organizations, sponsors and residents to help shape events and legacy projects leading up to and beyond the 2028 milestone.
The launch event is open to the public, and organizers encourage anyone interested in volunteering or supporting the initiative to get involved as planning continues.
