The woman behind a local skydiving business is highlighting some events coming up over the summer to help get Ottawa Valley residents into the sport.
Aria Zaharia of Airborne Petawawa says World Skydiving Day is happening on July 11th, and her organization is part of a larger initiative to bring more attention to the hobby.
Zaharia says a similar attempt at a world record happened last year but was hampered by poor weather, so she expects this year’s numbers to blow the 2025 attempt out of the water.
A few weeks later, Zaharia says the company will be hosting its Petawawa Veteran Boogie on August 19th.
Zaharia urges residents to nominate active service members and Canadian Armed Forces veterans who they believe deserves a free skydiving opportunity and who meet the physical requirements.
More information is available on the Airborne Petawawa website.
