A road closure on a section of Pembroke Street West will remain in effect longer than originally planned as infrastructure work continues in the city.
The City of Pembroke says the closure between Crandall Street and Douglas Street has been extended until 3 p.m. on June 26 due to unforeseen circumstances.
Detours and construction signage remain in place, and motorists are being asked to follow the posted routes and expect delays while work is underway.
The city is also urging drivers not to use the private parking lot at West End Plaza as a shortcut around the construction zone and is encouraging the public to use alternate routes whenever possible.
Despite the ongoing work, businesses located within the affected area remain open and accessible to customers.
City officials thanked residents and motorists for their patience as infrastructure improvements continue.
