The fire at Pembroke Regional Hospital on Sunday morning could have been so much worse if it were not for the quick actions of the people who work there.
Pembroke’s Fire Chief Scott Selle says it is a perfect example of why we have fire drills, extinguisher and other fire safety training.
Selle says this fire could have been devastating were it not for PRH staff.
The fire broke out around 8am Sunday in one of the smaller inpatient units.
The immediate area was evacuated by PRH staff and the sprinkler system and an extinguisher were used to contain the fire until firefighters arrived.
One patient suffered burns but Selle says it’s his understanding that the injuries are not serious.
