Thousands of users reported problems accessing Facebook and Instagram on Friday morning, with disruptions appearing to affect feeds and other platform functions across multiple regions.
The services, owned by Meta, began experiencing issues shortly before 10 a.m. Eastern time, according to outage-tracking services and media reports. Users took to other online platforms to report difficulties loading content and accessing their accounts.
The extent of Friday’s outage and the number of affected users were not immediately clear. Service-monitoring websites continued to track reports as engineers worked to assess the situation.
As of early Friday afternoon, the outage has ended and service has returned to normal.
