Round Lake resident Brooke Siegel says supporting local healthcare is personal.
Siegel, an x-ray technician at a hospital in Haliburton, recently won $870 through the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation’s Catch the Ace fundraiser after her ticket revealed the Eight of Clubs.
Siegel purchased her ticket online, knowing proceeds from the lottery support St. Francis Memorial Hospital, Madawaska Valley Hospice and Valley Manor.
“I see every day the impact donor funds have in helping purchase critical equipment that keeps care close to home,” Siegel said in a release issued by the foundation.
Siegel said she chose ticket number 10 “on a whim.” She has not yet decided how she will spend her winnings.
Catch the Ace is a weekly fundraising lottery organized by the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation, with net proceeds going toward medical equipment purchases and healthcare support services in the region.
The foundation said the Week 5 draw will feature an estimated weekly prize of $850, while the progressive jackpot has grown to about $11,639. Players who reveal the Ace of Spades win both prizes, for a combined estimated total of $12,489.
Tickets are available online and at several locations throughout the Madawaska Valley area, including pharmacies, convenience stores and the foundation office.
