The next owner of Pembroke’s CCHL team could be your neighbour, your boss or even you.
The Central Canada Hockey League announced on Thursday, May 21st that it is officially selling a slot in its league to operate the Pembroke-based junior “A” team.
This comes months after the league ousted former Lumber Kings owner Alex Armstrong in September of last year following complaints of financial mismanagement and bullying players on the team.
Back in April, the team announced that Armstrong’s appeal rights through Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada, meaning it could begin searching for a new owner.
The CCHL says the sale is being conducted “as is, where is” and is still subject to the normal approval process. The new team won’t retain the Lumber Kings branding.
Interested bidders are being urged to contact the CCHL by May 28th at 6:00 p.m. with their name, company (if applicable) and phone number to receive the bidding package.
