Kids across Whitewater Region are set to benefit as Kyla’s Kids Club trades hockey sticks for golf clubs.
The club’s annual golf tournament returns to the Oaks of Cobden on Saturday, August 22nd, with funds raised supporting the program’s goal of introducing local kids aged 4-12 to hockey without putting a financial burden on their parents. Organizer Hugh Martin explains that the program honours the memory of his daughter.
Martin adds that the tournament, which first began in 2016, has been a hit with the community and with people across the Ottawa Valley, with over 50 sponsors already on board and more than 20 teams ready to tee off as Kyla’s Kids Club prepares for the 2026-27 season at the Beachburg arena.
He calls the program an opportunity for the children taking part to build self-esteem and character while learning the fundamental skills of hockey.
Players can secure their tee-times for $110 per player, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, and supper. Potential sponsors and donors can also support Kyla’s Kids Club by reaching out to Martin at 613-582-7217 or by email.
