Deep River and District Health marked National Nursing Week 2026 with a series of events recognizing the contributions of nurses and frontline healthcare staff across the organization.
The celebrations honoured registered nurses, registered practical nurses, nurse practitioners, nursing students and personal support workers for their role in caring for patients, residents and families throughout the community.
National Nursing Week is held annually to recognize the role nurses play within Canada’s healthcare system and to highlight the skill, resilience and compassion they bring to patient care.
Throughout the week, staff at Deep River and District Health took part in appreciation activities including barbecue lunches, charcuterie cups, specialty beverages and a build-your-own parfait station.
The organization also hosted a “Find Flo” game, where staff searched departments for hidden photos of Florence Nightingale for a chance to win prizes.
“These celebrations are a small token of appreciation for the incredible work our nursing team does every day,” said Janna Hotson, president and CEO of Deep River and District Health, in a statement.
Hotson said nurses across the organization continue to demonstrate professionalism, compassion and dedication while caring for patients and residents.
Nursing staff at Deep River and District Health work in a variety of settings, including the hospital, emergency department, long-term care, community programs and primary care services.
The organization thanked members of its nursing team for the care and support they provide to the community each day.
