The Pembroke Business Improvement Area is marking its 50th anniversary with a community celebration in downtown Pembroke later this month.
The organization announced it will host a free “Downtown Eras Party” on May 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Pembroke Street West, featuring activities and entertainment inspired by past decades.
The event will include a roller rink, a MuchMusic-themed video dance party, themed photo stations, live entertainment and family activities. Downtown businesses will also take part with sidewalk sales and special promotions.
Organizers say the celebration is designed to highlight the history of the PBIA while drawing residents and visitors into the city’s downtown core.
“The Downtown Eras Party is all about creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere in the heart of our community while celebrating local businesses, community partnerships, and 50 years of the PBIA,” PBIA board chair Renae Rotblatt said in a statement.
The PBIA also recognized several sponsors supporting the event, including the City of Pembroke, which is sponsoring the 1970s-themed zone through its Community Recreation Grant program.
Other sponsors include River Run Treats, sponsor of the 1990s zone, and Valley Markets and Events, sponsor of the children’s activity area.
The event is free to attend, and all activities are open to the public at no cost.
More information is available through the Downtown Pembroke website.
