Water levels along the Ottawa River continue their slow decline after three weeks of flooding for communities on the shore.
The Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board says spring runoff from the northern part of the basin is rising due to recent rain, which could cause the decline happening between Mattawa and Pembroke to slow down or stop.
Levels and flows should continue to decrease gradually from Lake Coulonge to Arnprior this week but should remain generally high over the coming days.
The northern part of the basin remains vulnerable to heavy rainfall in the coming weeks, and further increases in local water levels due to high spring runoff cannot be ruled out.
