Petawawa Heritage Village has launched a community fundraising campaign aimed at helping cover the cost of replacing the roof on one of its historic buildings.
The campaign, called “Raise the Roof,” comes after contractor estimates placed the project cost at about $30,000 — roughly $8,000 more than the organization had budgeted for the work.
Village officials say the repairs are needed to help preserve the site’s heritage buildings and ensure restoration work can proceed without delay.
The registered charity is seeking support from residents, businesses and community partners through a series of fundraising efforts, including 50/50 draws, raffles, silent auctions, community events and sponsorship opportunities.
Donations can also be made directly through cheque, e-transfer or through CanadaHelps, with tax receipts available for eligible contributions.
Representatives for the organization said community support has long played a central role in maintaining the heritage village and preserving local history.
“This campaign is about coming together to protect a space that reflects our shared heritage for future generations,” the organization said in a statement.
Additional fundraising events and campaign details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
