Ahead of McHappy Day, a local father is urging residents to support the Ronald McDonald House that helped his family several years ago.
When Ryan Nicholas’ daughter was born during the pandemic, he says she experienced some medical complications that meant she needed to be in close proximity to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for an extended period of time.
Nicholas described the Ronald McDonald House as “home away from home” for his family while his baby girl got the treatment she needed.
According to Nicholas, Ronald McDonald House was incredibly accommodating, even in light of the various public health restrictions that were in effect at the time because of COVID-19.
Today, Nicholas’ daughter is a happy, healthy five-year-old and he’s urging people to support the charity that helped him on McHappy Day, which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th this year.
Nicholas says it’s hard to really understand the importance and impact of services like Ronald McDonald House until the day you need it yourself.
During McHappy Day, a portion of the proceeds from every item on the menu at McDonalds will go towards supporting Ronald McDonald House. Direct donations will also be accepted at the restaurant.
