A 47-year-old resident of Laurentian Valley is facing multiple charges following an intimate partner violence investigation by Ontario Provincial Police.
Officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment responded to a reported domestic dispute involving an assault at a home in the township on April 12. Police say investigators with the detachment’s abuse issues unit assisted with the case, which included both recent and historical incidents spanning several years.
As a result, the accused has been charged with five counts of spousal assault, five counts of mischief for damaging property, and two counts of forcible confinement under the Criminal Code.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.
Police say supports are available for anyone experiencing intimate partner violence and encourage those in immediate danger to call 911.
