The team at Apx Dental Hygiene is urging residents to thank their dental hygienist for the important work they do to help keep people healthy.
April is Oral Health Month, an annual observance in Canada highlighting the role oral health plays in people’s overall wellbeing and recognizing the work of professionals in the industry.
Dez Bair-Patel, the owner and office manager at Apx Dental Hygiene in Pembroke, urged residents to thank their oral hygienists.
Bair-Patel also said that dental care isn’t just about crowns and veneers, but being proactive instead of reactive about the basics.
According to Bair-Patel, the most important steps you can take to protect your oral health are brushing your teeth and flossing regularly, as well as booking an appointment with a dental hygienist to identify any issues before they become unmanageable.
Phyllis Bertrand, an independent dental hygienist working with Apx, recommends going with a dental hygienist as opposed to a more traditional dentist’s office because of the more relaxed and calming environment they can provide.
