The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a flood warning for the Ottawa Valley, with rising water levels expected through the end of the week.
The warning applies to areas from Pembroke to Arnprior and is in effect until Friday, unless updated.
The ministry says recent rainfall and warm temperatures have accelerated snowmelt and ice breakup, contributing to increased runoff. Additional rain and continued mild weather are expected to further raise water levels and flows along the river.
Officials say flooding may occur in low-lying and flood-prone areas later this week, particularly downstream of Pembroke. Water levels upstream are rising but remain below flood thresholds for now.
Residents who have experienced flooding in the past are being urged to take precautions, including securing property near rivers and lakes and monitoring conditions closely.
The ministry says it continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
