A 23-year-old Ottawa man is facing multiple charges following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police into alleged sexual offences involving a child.
Police with the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment say they received information on March 21, 2026, that a child may have been lured over the internet for sexual purposes. An investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Omer Yildirim of Ottawa has been charged with several offences under the Criminal Code, including two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm by choking, suffocating or strangling. He is also charged with luring a person under the age of 16 using telecommunications, three counts of invitation to sexual touching under 16, and two counts of sexual interference.
In addition, police allege the accused possessed child abuse and exploitation material and made sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.
Yildirim remains in custody.
