Canadian Nuclear Laboratories says its employees, with support from Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada, raised $160,000 for local United Way campaigns this year.
The organization said workers contributed $80,000 through its annual fundraising drive, with the amount matched by NLPC, doubling the total.
Funds were distributed across several regions, including about $50,000 for United Way Eastern Ontario, more than $10,000 for United Way Winnipeg and $20,000 for Northumberland United Way. Each of those amounts will also be matched by NLPC.
Phillip Compass, CNL’s Director of Corporate Communications, says this is part of the company’s long history of supporting charitable organizations.
Kompass says supporting community initiatives is extremely important to the team that works out of CNL’s Chalk River lab.
Thanks to the matching donations from NLPC, Kompass said this year’s donation from CNL employees broke records.
In a statement, company President and CEO Dennis Carr said the campaign reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting local communities and people in need.
He added that NLPC’s involvement aligns with broader plans to expand community support in areas such as education, social services and economic development.
Employees took part in a range of fundraising activities, including a pancake breakfast, bake sale, online games and contests at the Chalk River site, as well as events in Whiteshell, Manitoba and Port Hope.
The annual campaign is one of several initiatives through which the organization contributes to community programs.
