The Town of Petawawa has declared a Significant Weather Event as freezing rain is expected to affect travel and municipal services across the community.
The declaration, issued under Ontario’s Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways, warns residents to use caution on town-maintained roads and sidewalks as crews work to manage the conditions.
Officials say winter parking restrictions are in effect during the event, meaning on-street parking is prohibited. Vehicles parked on roadways may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
The town also says garbage and recycling collection could be delayed due to the weather. The declaration will remain in place until conditions improve, with a notice to follow once it is lifted.
