Two Petawawa residents are facing multiple fraud-related charges following an investigation launched in January 2026. The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police began looking into the case after a local resident reported the theft and fraudulent use of several personal cheques.
A 65-year-old from Petawawa has been charged with theft under $5,000, three counts each of fraud under $5,000, forgery, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and use of forged documents.
A 38-year-old, also from Petawawa, faces theft under $5,000, two counts each of fraud under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and use of forged documents.
Both accused were released to appear in Pembroke’s Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. Names are being withheld to protect the victim’s identity.
