Angela Lochtie and Brian Abdallah
As Pembroke’s public transit system reaches the six-month mark of its two-year pilot project, public feedback is being collected to determine what the next three and a half years will look like for the service.
Brian Abdallah is both Deputy Mayor of Pembroke and council lead on the public transit system. He says the metrics at these early stages are pointing to a successful rollout of the program thus far:
The public transit survey, which has been available online for several weeks, closed this past Sunday. Now it’s time to sift through the entries to see what the issues really are. Abdallah does, of course, receive a good number of standard questions about the service, which he takes into serious consideration:
Abdallah says he has not sat down with Laurentian Valley Mayor Bennett specifically about the transit routes and other related issues, but would welcome the opportunity should it arise.
The floor has been opened to individuals who wish to sit on a Transit Committee Board to help oversee future improvements and enhancements to the service.
The Town of Petawawa has recently conducted a transit feasibility study, the results of which are still pending, so there will be room for discussion once those findings are revealed. As soon as the survey results for Pembroke are made available, they will be communicated as well.
