Lillian Skuce of Barry’s Bay says she bought her Week 21 Catch the Ace ticket with modest expectations, hoping only to support local health care.
Instead, the retired registered practical nurse received a surprise when a second phone call prompted her to answer — and learn she had won $1,518 after revealing the seven of diamonds in envelope No. 50.
Skuce, who purchased her ticket at Lorraine’s Pharmasave, plans to put the winnings toward home repairs.
A former staff member of St. Francis Memorial Hospital, Skuce spent three decades working at the facility before retiring about 10 years ago.
Catch the Ace is organized by the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation, with proceeds supporting medical equipment and services for local partners.
Week 22’s estimated prize is $1,600, with the progressive jackpot nearing $38,793.
