Two Petawawa soldiers are about to get a huge honour. The two men will be invested into the Order of Military Merit by Canada’s Governor General Mary Simon. Master Warrant Officer Daniel Joseph Bouchard of the 2 Combat Engineer Regiment and Warrant Officer David William Kumar of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment will be officially appointed to the order at a ceremony at Rideau Hall this Thursday (Feb 19). The Petawawa officers are among 46 Canadians to get the honour this year. Created in 1972, the Order of Military Merit recognizes distinctive merit and exceptional service displayed by members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
