A Pembroke woman is facing several charges after police investigated a report of a possible impaired driver who allegedly left a local restaurant without paying.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Upper Ottawa Valley detachment say officers were called shortly after 10:45 p.m. on Feb. 6 following a complaint about a driver who had departed a Pembroke restaurant without settling their bill.
Police say the vehicle was located a short time later on Boundary Road in Pembroke. Officers began an impaired driving investigation and the driver was taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old woman from Pembroke has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand and food and lodging fraud under the Criminal Code, as well as failing to surrender an insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The woman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 9, 2026.
Police say her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
