A Pembroke man is facing several charges after an incident at a business in the city’s east end that police say involved an assault on an officer.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Upper Ottawa Valley detachment say they were called around 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, to a report of an unwanted person refusing to leave a commercial premises.
Police allege that during the interaction, an officer was assaulted, threats were made toward officers and there was an unsuccessful attempt to disarm a member of the force. Two knives were seized at the scene, according to police.
No injuries were reported.
Following the incident, a 59-year-old man from Pembroke has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and disarming a police officer.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026.
