Madawaska Valley has picked a familiar face to return to council chambers for the rest of the remaining term.
Former councillor and retired teacher Linda Neuman was unanimously appointed to fill the lone vacant seat at town hall during the council’s meeting on Tuesday, February 3rd.
Mayor David Shulist noted that her past experience in the role had led township officials to inquire about her availability previously.
Councillor Mary Blank also voiced her support for Neuman but hinted that there might be some competition in store when the municipality heads back to the polls later this year.
Chief Administrative Officer and Town Clerk Suzanne Klatt says there are still some formalities before Neuman returns to council, but the process will likely be quick.
A note from the township has since confirmed that Neuman will officially sworn in at a special meeting on February 9th.
