A recent employee engagement survey at Deep River and District Health suggests growing confidence, collaboration and satisfaction among staff, with most measures showing improvement since 2023.
The survey, conducted in late 2025, drew responses from nearly 40 per cent of employees and assessed 30 areas related to workplace engagement. According to the organization, results improved in 22 of those areas, including communication, teamwork, respect and empowerment.
Measures of team respect and collaboration were reported at 94 per cent and 88 per cent, respectively, while more than 92 per cent of respondents expressed pride in the quality of care delivered and in the organization overall. The overall workplace rating rose to 83 per cent.
Several areas showed notable gains, including consultation about change, which increased by nearly 19 per cent, and empowerment and decision-making, which rose by more than 13 per cent.
Employees also indicated interest in career development opportunities as the health centre prepares for future expansion, including a new 96-bed long-term care home and planned hospice services. At the same time, many respondents reported satisfaction with their current roles and a desire to continue contributing within existing teams.
President and CEO Janna Hotson said the results reflect progress in creating a supportive and inclusive workplace.
“These survey results show real progress in how our team members feel supported, included and empowered,” Hotson said, adding the feedback will help guide future planning while maintaining a focus on patient care.
Deep River and District Health said the survey results will support workforce retention and recruitment efforts moving forward.
