Ontario Provincial Police in the Upper Ottawa Valley are investigating the theft of thousands of dollars’ worth of tools from a vehicle parked in Petawawa.
Police say the theft occurred sometime between the evening of Jan. 17 and the afternoon of Jan. 18, 2026, on Noble Crescent. The vehicle was unlocked at the time, investigators said.
Stolen items include several DeWalt toolboxes, power tools and batteries, as well as Milwaukee-brand hand tools and a framing nailer.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are asking anyone with information to contact police at 613-735-0188 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online.
Police are reminding residents that thieves often look for crimes of opportunity, noting that unlocked vehicles, open windows and valuables left in plain view can make targets more appealing. The OPP advise vehicle owners to lock their cars, close windows, park in well-lit areas when possible and avoid leaving valuables visible. Similar precautions should be taken with homes, garages and outbuildings, police added.
