Pembroke Regional Hospital officials say emergency department staff continue to provide care to patients, despite reduced physician coverage this week.
In a notice issued Wednesday, the hospital said physician staffing levels will be lower on Thursday, Jan. 15, and Friday, Jan. 16, which could result in longer wait times in the emergency department.
Officials stressed that residents should still seek care if they have an urgent medical need, noting that patient health and safety remain the top priority.
Patients will be assessed and treated based on the urgency of their condition, the hospital said, adding that it appreciates the public’s patience during the period of reduced coverage.
For non-emergency concerns, patients without access to a family physician or nurse practitioner are encouraged to contact the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre at 1-844-727-6404.
The service provides 24-hour access to family physicians, medical receptionists and community paramedics.
