While there have already been some frigid nights this winter, we know that the “Coldest Night of the Year” is set for Saturday, February 28, when folks will walk the streets of Pembroke in support of The Grind and the fight against homelessness and mental illness.
Organizers Jerry Novack and Deacon Adrien Chaput call this the most important fundraiser of the year. This year, they are hoping to shatter the donation record — but they need our help. Deacon Chaput explains:
Chaput and Novack have said many times that their sponsors are incredibly valuable to them, but they are looking for what they call a “Main Sponsor” this year:
The Grind team is out there knocking on doors (so to speak), looking for businesses and individuals who truly see the value in supporting wellness in the community and joining the fight against homelessness and drug addiction.
The walk will be returning to the downtown core once again this year, kicking off at Algonquin College. Jerry Novack reminds us that the success of campaigns throughout the rest of the year depends greatly on the success of this one night:
Deacon Chaput says they are already well on their way in terms of the number of teams registered:
If you are looking to join a team, walk on your own, or even volunteer, you can call 613-732-9423 or visit cnoy.org/Pembroke, where you can register a team or simply make a donation if you choose to support the cause that way.
