An annual food and fundraising event brought in thousands of dollars to help support local animals still in need of a forever home.
The fifth annual Ottawa Valley Soup-Off was held on Sunday, December 14th at the Petawawa Civic Centre.
Organizer Liam Poirier said this year’s event saw the best turnout yet.
The Soup-Off had a $20 entry fee, with all the money being put towards the Ontario SPCA, an organization close to Poirier’s heart.
All attendees were invited to try all 39 different soups that were available. Poirier tries to be impartial, but he did have a favourite.
Poirier also explained that he was able to record a short video with OSPCA staff members showcasing some of the animals up for adoption prior to the event. He was pleased to report that they have all since found their forever homes.
Poirier is already looking forward to next year’s Soup Off and encourages anyone interested to attend next winter.
