An electrical fire broke out this afternoon at the Pembroke Mall.
Emma, an employee at the mall’s PetValu location, explained that the small blaze broke out during the afternoon of Thursday, December 11th.
Before first responders arrived at the scene, Emma said workers at the mall closed off the area around the fire and redirected shoppers.
Firefighters and OPP officers both arrived on the scene to contain the blaze. Emma explained that people were allowed to pass through the mall again after roughly twenty minutes.
The exact cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed, although Emma explained a tile had been removed from the floor inside the mall near a bench and firefighters were investigating the signage at the nearby Dollarama location.
We’ve reached out to the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment for more details.
