Christmas In The Village is set to return to Petawawa on Sunday December 7th and for the past eleven years or so it’s been one of the highlights of the holiday season in Petawawa. Sharon Rideough, President of the Petawawa Heritage Village says the idea originated as the brain child or a former Heritage President:
Every one of the folks who have been tasked with setting up the beautiful holiday decor is a volunteer with various skill sets including organization of festive activities. Julie Mallory, Director of Site Operations for the Petawawa Heritage Village says that this is the one she really gets excited about every year:
The Village is lit up with literally thousands of lights making it the true holiday spectacle it has been for so many years. Handmade greenery is already being made by volunteers as well as Christmas garlands that will adorn the entire Village and so much more.
The ladies say that approximately 1,100 people turned out last year and they expect even more this year as word of mouth travels. Sharon describes rather nicely what the spirit of the event will be:
Come on out to on Sunday December 7th from 2PM until 6PM and celebrate the holidays Petawawa style.
