The Pembroke Kings reached the playoff round of the Bill Kutschke U13 weekend at the Pembroke Regional Silver Stick Tournament, facing the Clarence Rockland Crush on Sunday morning at the Pembroke Memorial Centre. Fans left disappointed as the Kings were eliminated from the U13B Tier 1 division, falling 5-2 to the Crush, who built a quick 3-0 lead after the opening period. Special teams proved costly for Pembroke early, surrendering both a power-play goal and a shorthanded tally.
Elsewhere in U13 action, the Cumberland Jr. Grads captured the U13AA title with a 3-1 victory over the Eastern Ontario Cobras, while the Campbell Ford Colts shut out the Loyalist Jets 3-0 to claim the U13B Tier 2 championship.
During round-robin play in the U13B Tier 1 division, the Kings advanced to the quarter-finals with a 1-1-1 record. Pembroke opened with a 2-1 loss to the Kemptville Royals, rebounded with a 3-1 win over the GOP Blues, and closed the round robin in a 3-3 draw against the Napanee Stars.
