Remembrance Day in Pembroke was celebrated as always at The Cenotaph on an unseasonably chilly morning.
Despite the frigid temperatures the sun shone brightly and the spirit of the day carried through the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month as hundreds gathered to pay homage to so many who have fought and suffered for our freedom.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 72 President Stan Halliday’s words punctuated the crisp air:
Wreaths were laid in memory of those who fought, flags were lowered to half mast and the rifle’s salutes reminded us of why we were there that morning.
Many gathered in the warmth of The Pembroke Legion following the ceremony for hot soup and remembrance.
Lest We Forget.
